no.10 · individual braids
Box braids at the width of a pencil lead. Hundreds of them, and they move like loose hair.

Micro braids are box braids taken as small as the partings allow. The technique doesn't change: square sections, an extension per section, braided root to tip. The count does. A medium set has around a hundred braids, a micro set several hundred.
The extra braids buy movement. A full micro set hangs and swings like loose hair. It goes up into a bun, a pony or half-up without bulk, and it parts anywhere.
The bill comes in hours. Eight to fourteen in the chair, often split across two days, and a take-down that needs patience to match. Weight is spread over so many roots that the tension per root is low. That changes if the parts are cut smaller than your own hair can hold, so ask how small your braider will go on your hair, not on the photo.
Knotted or knotless, both are done at this size. Knotless costs more and takes longer, for the same flat root it gives at every size.
the name
"Micro" is a size, not a separate style. These are box braids or knotless braids at the smallest parting. Choosing between knots and no knots? See knotless braids.
