the BASICS

Boho braids are knotless braids with curly pieces left out, falling loose along each braid. The curls are usually human hair, which is what gives them that soft, lived-in movement. They're for anyone who finds plain braids too clean. The loose pieces make them look effortless, a little undone, like you woke up like this. More styling, more personality, more romantic than a standard knotless. The amount of curl is up to you. A few wisps, or curls the whole way down. the ones I dream about. human hair, always.

the technique: 70/30 braid-to-curl ratio. Loose wavy strands fed out of the side of each braid at regular intervals.
the feel: Airy, soft. Human hair recommended — daily detangling of the loose strands.

the UPKEEP

washEvery two to three weeks. Diluted shampoo on the scalp, squeeze the length, no rubbing. Rubbing is how twists unravel.

sleepSatin scarf or bonnet. Twists frizz at the ends faster than braids do.

lastsFive to eight weeks depending on the hair used. Senegalese hold longest.

edgesOil the scalp once or twice a week. If an end unwinds, re-twist it wet and let it dry.
